Progress Over Perfection.
Perfection is a fleeting goal.
I’m sure this is something that can resonate with most.
Relationships. Career. Money.
A lot of times, our pursuit of perfection and desire to succeed can be damning and even allow fear to prevent us from acting at all. I find it ironic that this mantra, “progress over perfection”, has been in the front of my mind ever since setting out on this project.
Each task and little bit of planning leading to another five resulting steps… and next thing I knew, another week had passed with no action.
The parallels to our money are undeniable. Nearly 80% of Americans are living paycheck to paycheck, and only 39% of Americans can cover a $1,000 emergency without incurring new debt. It is easy to call this demographic ill-prepared or short sighted, but the truth is - when there are hotter money fires burning in life, it is easy to neglect your financial health and focus on the short-term.
But as each day passes, especially if you are a young professional, ignoring your balance sheet is only costing future you more money. This can mean delayed retirement, delayed dreams, and unrealized potential. For some, it may even mean missing an opportunity to break a streak of generational poverty, or create real tangible wealth.
What drives this inaction? Fear.
Fear of the unknown. Fear of failure. Fear of the opinions of others.
I wanted to do something meaningful, and create a resource to combat these feelings. That’s why 401jay exists. To engage and empower you to take control of your situation, and feel confident in doing so.
Sometimes taking the first step is the hardest. I’ve learned that in trying to launch this project.
If you don’t know how or where to start taking charge of your money, you’ve come to the right place.
