Ethics

Not all financial advisers are created equal, and the difference usually lies in how they are registered - and in turn, get paid. Two terms to keep an eye out for: fiduciary and fee-only. Fiduciary means the advisor is bound to act in the client’s best interest at all times. Fee-only means no commissions, no kickbacks, no sales-based pay. Definitely not your father's financial advice.

Excellence

Isn’t it nice when things just… work? Working with the best allows you to rest easy knowing that you’re in good hands. The best technology, great communication, and confidence in someone who genuinely knows you and your goals. Seamless translation of words & dollars into goals & results.

Empathy

Being known and understood is paramount to the success of any relationship, professional or personal. A good advisor knows how to ask questions and communicate in a way that resonates with you. No two people or situations are the same, and your advisor shouldn’t treat you like just another client.

Expertise

When it comes down to it, there are 3 types of expertise critical for a good advisor to provide you: strategic expertise (planning); technical expertise (construction, technology, resources), and administrative expertise (sweat equity!). Combine all three qualities and you have an invaluable advocate on your road to financial freedom.

Execution

Getting stuff done. That’s what we all want right? Talking is fine, but results are what we’re all after. When it comes to money, it’s easy to have ‘analysis paralysis.’ Working with an expert can take the guesswork out of the equation, and allow you to focus your time back to more important things.

experience

Knowing that a professional has helped others like you, work through situations like yours should be more than just comforting - it should be a prerequisite. Professional training and designations are an added bonus, as they show the advisor has demonstrated advanced knowledge in a specific area.
